During the next few months, we will have a few Fiddlejam events to play at:

1.           On Saturday, June 4th, at 2pm, there will be a Memorial Celebration for fiddler Wat Stanton who died earlier this year.  Everyone will be at the St George United church, in Courtenay, in the same building where we play our Fiddlejam sessions.  Fiddlejam players have been invited to play some tunes at the memorial.  We can play 3 or 4 tunes like Jimmy’s Favourite Jig, Please Don’t Talk About Me, 5’2”, Manitoba Golden Boy, Nellie Gray, Ashokan Farewell, Tennessee Waltz, Log Driver’s Waltz, Westphalia Waltz.  Wat was a very nice and gentle man.  Cindy even plays one of the violins that Wat made.  I have attached a photo of us celebrating his 97th birthday.

2.        If you happen to be in Kelowna on June 4th, there is a BC Provincial Fiddle contest.  This contest will establish the champion fiddlers in BC.

3.        This summer, there will be some events to play at, starting on Sunday, July 3rd, at Simms Park in Courtenay where we will be kicking off the Simms Park Summer Concert Series.  The show starts at 7pm and we should be there by 6:30pm to get set up.

4.        The 5th Annual Comox Valley Garlic Fest will be held at the Big Yellow Merville Hall on Sunday, August 7th from 12:00 to 6pm.  All things garlic, all the time.  Fiddlejam will be part of the musical entertainment.

Some of us will get together now and then throughout the summer to practise new tunes, swing tunes, bluegrass tunes, rock & roll tunes and looney tunes.  Have a great summer.
